Where do you want to go?

If you’re reading this post in June of 2020, you’ll know we’re kind of in the middle of what I’ve started calling a “s&%tshow.” First there was this pandemic…which I guess is still hanging around but no one cares about it anymore…and then there was a really bad thing with a cop, some peaceful protesting, and some crazy bad looting, rioting, and killing of both humans and animals. As I write this, unfortunately, it’s still going on.

And through all of it, there’s been Facebook.

Say what you will about social media, but right now, in my opinion, it’s dividing the country, causing friends to unfriend one another, and generally making people really mean. It seems that if someone can say something in writing they then for some reason feel it’s perfectly acceptable to be mean. It’s like hiding behind a keyboard. Seriously, I’ve had people ‘say’ to me, and seen them ‘say’ to others, things my guess is they’d NEVER say to someone’s face. Watching it all has been extremely difficult.

Last weekend I read a book called ‘The Universe is Talking to You,’ by Tammy Mastroberte (www.TammyMastroberte.com), someone I’ve worked with. She was kind enough to send me her book as a gift. Like many, I’ve been having a really hard time with all that’s been going on in the world. So the other day in the middle of reading this book I decided to stop, meditate, and also use some of the prayers Tammy lays out. And bam. There it all was.

That day was the best day I had had in a long time. First, I received signs and an amazing message from my Mom who passed in 2014. Then, I pulled the perfect Spirit Animal card telling me it was ‘Time for beginner mind,’ time to get back to basics. Getting back to basics for me means finding my way back to the Universal Law of Attraction. You get what you focus on. And it’s all about your vibration.

By making myself get back to basics and remember it’s all about those two things I realized that for a few weeks now I’ve been focusing on the hate, the killing, the ruining of innocent lives, the meanness between friends. I’ve been focusing on all the bad stuff. And I know better.

The only way to change is to lead by example. I know what I don’t want, so now I know what I DO want. And it was a HUGE shift and an even HUGER (is that a word?) relief. And since that time, I’ve been raising my vibration. By loving and sending compassion to everyone I can. By finding the joy in simple things. By looking for things to appreciate in each moment.

In her book, Tammy talks about when we go through something challenging…like we all are now. It’s human nature to get mad and say angrily, ‘Why is this happening to me dammit!?’ But what if we didn’t? Tammy writes,

“When I hit roadblocks or am faced with a new challenge today, the first thing that always comes to mind for me is this: I don’t know why this is happening, but I know there is a reason, and I’ll figure it out eventually. I know it’s leading me somewhere good.”

We’re all on our own journey. And it’s up to us to decide how we want to travel and where we want to go.

Live and Learn with love.
