The good, the bad, and the ugly…

Social Media. The bane of my existence. When I first started ‘Facebooking’ I thought it was just the coolest thing. What a great way to hook up with old friends! Later, I started loving on Instagram because I got a kick out of all the pictures everyone was sharing. After awhile, like most of us I’m sure, I kind of got sick of both platforms. Lots of negativity, too much opinion, fake news, and just plain meaness. Unfortunately, when you have a small business, social media is key.

I’m taking the last class I need to be certified to teach Animal Communication for Danielle MacKinnon. I went through her entire school learning all I can about AC and teaching it. To say that ‘stuff’ comes up when you’re studying all things intuitive would be putting it mildly. I’ve mentioned this before. But in this class, STUFF (capital letters there) is coming up. The other day we spent an entire class talking about the best ways to post on social media. Turns out it’s video. Not sure if I ever wrote about this before but a couple of years ago when I was first building my AC business in the class I was taking then, Danielle made us all record ourselves doing our elevator pitch. At that time, the thought of posting a video of myself saying anything let alone talking about what I do was enough to make me seriously consider dropping out and looking for a different career. I do NOT like to see myself on camera…video or pictures. Obviously I’ve gotten over that to some extent as all the classes I take and teach are pretty much live video webinars. However, videos on social media feel like another thing to me.

I was brought up to not be vain. To not try to be the center of attention for your own gain. To not hog the camera or try to take the limelight. What I’m learning now as I strive to get the knowledge of Animal Communication out there…and yes, to build my client base…is that that’s exactly what you have to do. Put your face, your thoughts, your life OUT THERE for everyone to see.

Yesterday I did my first ever Facebook Live. I literally forced myself to sit down and push the button and then just started talking and laughing about and at myself.  And then I had to go put more deodorant on…

Long story short, you’ll be seeing a lot more of me in the future.

The good, the bad, and the ugly…be kind. 🙂
