I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately on the ancient Hawaiian practice of Ho’ oponopono. In very basic terms (very basic because this stuff is pretty heady) Ho’ oponopono is all about taking complete responsibility for everything you perceive in your world and releasing the ‘programmed’ beliefs about those things. And you do that with love. You send love and forgiveness to God/Spirit/Universe for yourself. Like I said, pretty heady stuff.
Of course, all this talk about love, and particularly unconditional love, got me thinking about the love of our animals. Specifically, the love they have for us, and the love they have for themselves. Do you ever get up in the morning and look at yourself in the mirror and say, ‘OMG! I look like crap today!’? Or, step on the scale and say, ‘I’m so fat!’? or ‘I’m so scrawny! I can’t seem to build any muscle!’? Animals don’t do that. Animals would never think to berate themselves about anything. They just don’t have those programmed, limiting beliefs. They choose love every chance they get.
When I do Animal Communication readings for clients, I ask them to bring questions they want to ask the animal I’m reading. Most of the questions are around behaviors the animal may be exhibiting and how to go about stopping the behavior. Sometimes, in the case of rescued animals that have been abused, the questions are about the human wanting to know what happened to the animal in its previous place. And here’s the thing I find almost every time I read. The animals in our lives always put us first and are always about love.
That thing your animal is doing, the one that’s making you nuts? It’s for you. That behavior is almost always exhibited to bring your attention to something going on in yourself. Something the animal in your life wants to help you with. When a client wants to know about the appalling treatment the animal went through in the past? The animals just don’t go there. Because it doesn’t matter anymore. It’s not happening now. And…here’s the best part…they don’t want you to know because they don’t want you to feel bad about it. They don’t want you to live in the past, but instead in the present, in a state of love, with them. I’ve read animals that were in the middle of extremely abusive situations. And even in those situations, these animals were choosing love and forgiveness. So I ask you…
Can you? Afterall….
All you need is love.
