Just be quiet already…

I was recently talking to a friend who was feeling really crappy about something that had happened to her. Something she did didn’t work out the way she wanted it to and she was pretty upset about it. My suggestion to her was to look for the lemonade. In other words, try to find something, anything good that came out of the situation. And she eventually did, but it made me start to think. What happens if we just can’t? What happens when we absolutely can NOT let go of something? What do we do then?
We get really quiet.
Every month I get an audiobook download from my friends over at Abraham-Hicks.com. It’s usually about an hour or so long, so sometimes I just can’t find the time to listen to them right away. A few days ago I realized I had two waiting to be listened to and felt it was time. And it ALWAYS turns out to be the exact thing I need to hear at the exact time. Bare with me here. As an Intuitive Animal Communicator, I read the human before I read the animal. I get the energetic qualities of the human and then do the same for the animal. Now, I can’t read myself so I have other Animal Communicators read me and my animals. Awhile back I had a couple of readings from a couple of different people and they both said basically the same thing. They saw me meditating, which I do every day, but they both felt that when I was meditating I was doing it for the sake of getting it done. And, of course, they were right. I often found myself meditating because I was supposed to meditate. I’m a Shamanic Practitioner and an Animal Communicator so I’m supposed to do that sort of thing. But, as they said, it was becoming more of a chore. Something I had to do because I was supposed to do it. In other words, I was missing the whole point of meditation.
Which brings me back to the AH downloads. Both of them were heavily focused on meditation. (Like I said, exactly what I needed to hear when I needed to hear it.) They didn’t talk about any specific form of meditation, just a meditation where you get really quiet….BECAUSE IT FEELS GOOD. Not because you’re supposed to. The kind of meditation where you do your best to quiet your mind and softly let go of any thoughts that creep in…and they will. The kind of meditation where you don’t get mad at yourself for doing it wrong.
As humans, what do we usually do when we feel crappy about something? When something is going wrong? When there’s some sort of issue we’re trying to work through? We wrestle the subject to the ground. We think it to death. We come at it from every angle possible in order to solve it. When really, we need to do the opposite. We need to let it go. We need to walk away from it. We need to get really quiet. We need to sit or lie down, close our eyes and…
Just be quiet. Then watch what happens.
