It wasn’t the bed…

Many years ago, I was staying with a friend in her mother’s house. Her mother had passed away in her bed, quietly in her sleep several months before and I was sleeping in that same bed. My friend asked, ‘You don’t mind sleeping in the bed where Mom died do you?’ And me…being me…said, ‘The bed didn’t kill her did it?’
I was thinking about this the other day. Another friend and her husband were adopting a dog this weekend. Prior to going to get the dog, my friend asked if she should get rid of the bed her old dog…who passed away this summer…slept in and buy the new dog a new bed. Her beautiful boy lab had passed from cancer and she was concerned about any negative juju that might be ‘sticking’ to the bed (my words, not hers). I assured her that she could keep the old bed and that dogs…and all animals…don’t think like we humans do and that nothing was sticking to the bed.
I’ve written about this before I’m sure. We humans make death a really big deal. When in actuality, it’s not. Of course you know I understand how awful it is when we lose a loved one, human or animal, but the awful part of it is really only for us. To the human or animal who passes on, once they’ve done it, it’s really not a big deal. As I’ve learned through my study and practice of Animal Communication, dying is basically just graduating on to the ‘next thing.’
I read a lot of animals who have already passed on. And their messages are so crystal clear to me. There is never sadness. There is never regret. There is never blame. And there is never any attachment to how or why or when it went down the way it did. In fact, animals orchestrate perfectly how it all happens. And they do it the best way for the humans around them. We may not always understand that, but what we can understand is that to animals there is no attachment to death and the things that remain after death…except us. They remain attached to us.
My own dog Gibbs passed this June. He had this dog bed that was really too small for him, but he loved to curl up into a nice, tight dog ball. Since his passing, my other dog Gigi (WAY too big for the bed…) and my cat Nicki both use his bed. Instead of staying away from the bed and any bad juju, they relish in it. After all,
It wasn’t the bed…
