Do what lights you up. Then do what’s next.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about what it is I should be doing with myself. I know, that sounds pretty dramatic, huh? I don’t really mean it that way. I just mean that after the past couple of years (and I’m not harping on them, it just is what it is.) I think many of us have at least at some point, taken a step back and kind of done the ‘what’s it all about?’ thing.

What I’m talking about though is more of a moment to moment kind of thing. Like, ‘what is it I should be doing today, or now?’ A good friend of mine has this saying that I absolutely love. She always says, ‘you should do what lights you up.’ And I actually feel like that’s such an awesome way to move through your day, week, month and I guess life.

Of course we need to do the things we need to do in life. Feed the dog, clean the cat litter, get some groceries, pay some bills…whatever. But even for those seemingly little things, maybe it’s worth thinking about.

I tell my clients all the time, ‘stop shoulding on yourself and instead feel your way through life.’ For example, if I look at my calendar and know that there are a few ‘to-dos’ on it, maybe I could stop for a second and decide which one feels best to do first. Then which? Then which? That way I’m leading with a higher vibration.

As you all know I’m way into Abraham-Hicks and the Law of Attraction. I remember years ago, Abraham telling a story about Esther Hicks and how she had all these flight reservations she HAD to make for upcoming workshops. Jerry, Esther’s hubby, kept asking her when she was going to get to them because she kept putting them off. She was determined to feel her way through her to-do list.

What happened was that she suddenly felt, ‘today’s the day I’m going to do that.’ How did it go? She got the BEST representative on the phone, they together got all the reservations and more done, they had the best time talking, Esther got the best deals, and they both had an awesome time.

Would that have happened if she forced herself to do it without feeling her way through it? I personally don’t think so.

So, from now on when I look at my day, I’m going to ask myself what it is I should be doing. And then I’m going to wait to feel lit up.

How about you?
